For Immediate Release
A guest star on numerous television shows such as Fox's The Tick (Produced and directed by Barry Sonnenfeld of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events) and Showtime's National Lampoon's Attack Of The 5'2" Women, Motel was inspired to offer an evening of performance after reading heartbreaking posts on the Tipitina's website. One post that touched him was from Sergio of the No Idea Band: "I was a full-time musician in New Orleans and lost my home due to the levee break. Our home was under water to the rooftop. I had a recording studio in my home that obviously is gone as well. I lost all of my guitars keyboards, drums and recording equipment." In Mind Salad, Motel tells the story of Mick Calendar, an aspiring screenwriter who moves from London to Hollywood in hopes of escaping his noisy mind. Motel portrays 20 comic characters including a nine-year-old boy, a Texas gigolo, a cosmetology student from Queens and an angel sent to earth in the guise of a black drag queen. Tickets are $10 and must be reserved online. The performance time is 8:00 p.m. To reserve tickets, visit http://dougmotel.com/upcoming.htm (Nov. 19). For more information or to schedule an interview with Motel, call Carrie Wykoff of Events That Matter at (917) 450-1139. About The Tipitina's Foundation The Tipitina's Foundation had devoted its efforts to uplifting the New Orleans music community through its Music Co-op Office, Instruments A-Comin' benefit concerts and the Tipitina's Internship Program. That mission has changed since the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina, as it fights to save and rebuild its community. For more information, visit http://www.tipitinasfoundation.org.
