The Student Operated Press, Helping Students One Pixel At A Time

The SOP Pixel Project

For Immediate Release

CHICAGO/EWORLDWIRE/April 18, 2006 --- The Student Operated Press (SOP) today announced the launch of “the SOP Pixel Project” in order to raise one million dollars to help ensure that the SOP becomes a leader in providing a training ground for students as well as novice writers hoping to break into the field of journalism.

Based on “The Million Dollar Home Page” concept, The SOP’s Pixel Project is a Web page containing 18,500 blocks (each block containing 100 pixels). These pixels, selling for between $0.25 and $2.50 each may be purchased by individuals and organizations who want to help the SOP in its mission to help the next generation of journalists get their feet in the door.

Sponsors purchasing pixels will have a graphic displayed on the Pixel Project page along with a link to their Web site indefinitely.

Since being launched in August of 2005 by Judyth Piazza, The SOP has already given out a $500 scholarship to contributing writer/editor Matthew Kent and has been instrumental in helping students and contributors get published in at least three magazines and several online newspapers.
