FAIRFAX, Va/EWORLDWIRE/June 15, 2006 --- TechNet International 2006, AFCEA International’s 60th annual conference and exposition and one of the largest defense-related IT events, returns to Hall B of the Washington Convention Center Monday, June 19 through Tuesday, June 20. This year's theme, "Information Sharing – Adaptability Across the Spectrum of Operations" fits well with AFCEA's mission to bring government, military, and industry together to promote global security. 
Over 175 defense and IT exhibitors will display their products and solutions for homeland security/defense at TechNet. They will be focusing on specific technology requirements from senior defense and government personnel, including: information sharing, data fusion/correlation, intelligence integration, multi-level security, information assurance, and command and control. The exposition will include such technologies as robotics, wireless communications systems, battlefield communications, rugged computers, security systems, and visual displays. Large defense contractors, small businesses and government agencies will all be exhibiting at TechNet.
The conference features an impressive lineup of expert speakers: ADM Edmund P. Giambastiani, Jr., USN, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Lt Gen C. Robert Kehler, USAF, Deputy Commander, U.S. Strategic Command; GEN Colin Powell, USA (Ret.), former Secretary of State and former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and Mr. John Killian, President, Verizon Business, Verizon Communications.
Three panel sessions will provide TechNet attendees the opportunity to dialogue with experts on specific aspects of information sharing: LtGen James Conway, USMC, Director of Operations, J-3, the Joint Staff, will lead “A Commanders’ Panel on Network Enabled Operations”. A government/industry panel focusing on IP convergence and network centricity will be moderated by MG J. David Bryan, USA (Ret.), Vice President and Deputy, Defense Group, Northrop Grumman – Information Technology. LtGen Robert Shea, USMC, Director for Command, Control, Communications and Computer Systems (J-6), The Joint Staff, will lead a panel of senior Command Communicators.
Recognizing the pressing need to share sensitive information of various classification levels among and across agencies, TechNet will include a focus on multi-level security (MLS). The Honorable Dale Meyerrose, Associate Director of National Intelligence and Chief Information Officer, Office of the Director of National Intelligence, will moderate a panel of senior
intelligence agency CIOs focusing on MLS intelligence strategies. The MLS solutions meeting the IS requirements panel, led by Edward Hammersla, Chief Operating Officer, Trusted Computing Solutions, will focus on MLS direction and the certification and accreditation process. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to see working examples of MLS systems in both the Windows and UNIX/LINUX environments.
