    Media Advisory

ATLANTA/EWORLDWIRE/Nov. 30, 2006 --- The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) will hold a member event hosted by Emory University on Saturday, December 2, 2006, at The Carter Center in Atlanta. This occasion honors outstanding high school students from 28 states, and educators from the Southeast, and features speaker Claes Nobel, senior member of the Nobel family which established the Nobel Prizes, and Chair of the NSHSS Advisory Board.

The program also will include a panel discussion with college admissions representatives from Agnes Scott College, Emory University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, SUNY Stony Brook, the University of Georgia, and Yale University. The panel discussion will be moderated by Nancy Beane, college counselor at Westminster High School in Atlanta. After the program, students will have the opportunity to meet and speak directly with these college representatives. During the program, "No Strings Attached," Emory's acclaimed all-male a capella singing group, will perform. The event will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the Cecil B. Day Chapel at The Carter Center.

"These honor students have reached great heights by consistently demonstrating academic strength and community leadership, and we are pleased to show our pride and support," said Mr. Nobel. "What our members are doing in their schools and in their hometowns is truly admirable, and each of them highlights the hope and the confidence we all should have in our young people."

The National Society of High School Scholars was formed in 2002 to recognize academic excellence at the high school level and to encourage members of the organization to apply their unique talents, vision and potential for the betterment of themselves and the world. Currently, the NSHSS has members in the United States and 19 countries representing 22,000 high schools and has awarded over $200,000 in scholarships.
