International Sturge-Weber Foundation Welcomes Richard Deering To Its Board

For Immediate Release

MT FREEDOM, NJ/EWORLDWIRE/March 20, 2007 --- The international Sturge-Weber Foundation (SWF) has announced the appointment of Richard C. Deering of Marriottsville, Md. and Boca Raton, Fla. to the SWF Board of Directors to the position of Treasurer. Deering's firsthand experience with Sturge-Weber syndrome allows him to bring personal insight to SWF efforts in outreach to families, as well as with corporate and private fundraising and organization.

A George Washington University alumnus, Deering is a former trial lawyer who is now a construction supervisor. He and his wife have three adult sons.

Deering will be participating in the Foundation's annual Month of Awareness in May, 2007.

Since its incorporation in the USA as an international 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1987, the Sturge-Weber Foundation has provided education, information and friendly support for patients, parents, professionals and others concerned with Sturge-Weber Syndrome (SWS) - a rare congenital neurological disorder, growing to expand support for individuals with capillary vascular birthmarks, Klippel Trenaunay (KT) and Port Wine Stain (PWS).

Along with annual Mardi Gras festivities and fundraising activities, informal local family days and activities of the foundation expanded to include the first ever SWF Golf Outing on Long Island at The Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove in 2006. Foundation operations are supported by private and corporate donations and grants. The SWF also supports and instigates research into the cause of congenital port wine stain related conditions.
