FAIRFAX, Va./EWORLDWIRE/June 14, 2007 --- The AFCEA Educational Foundation is pleased to announce that CAPT Edward F. (Ted) Bronson, USN (Ret.) is this year's Distinguished Service to Education Award winner. Established in 1984, this award honors an individual who has made significant contributions to the educational mission of AFCEA. Recipients exhibit elite characteristics, including a history of exceptional dedication to educational endeavors, a strong leadership role in their particular AFCEA chapter or industry environment, and a record of significant contributions to furthering education within the fields of command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I).Bronson is an unprecedented two-time recipient of this prestigious award. He was nominated by the AFCEA Washington, D.C., Chapter where he has served for more than 15 years as the volunteer in charge of a robust scholarship program for high school graduates. Through his efforts, the chapter has awarded more than $1.4 million in scholarships to 246 students from 82 Washington, D.C., metropolitan area high schools. He also implemented a scholarship survey program to elicit feedback from scholarship recipients and used this information to improve the chapter's scholarship program.

Bronson received his award at the chapter's May luncheon from AFCEA International Executive Vice President Becky Nolan. He received his first Distinguished Service to Education award in 1992 from then AFCEA Educational Foundation President Rear Admiral W. J. Holland, Jr., USN (Ret.).
Candidates for this award are accepted from AFCEA Chapter presidents, AFCEA International and AFCEA Educational Foundation Board members, and AFCEA International senior staff members. Nominations are due each year by December 1. More information is available at
