FAIRFAX, Va./EWORLDWIRE/June 19, 2007 --- AFCEA International is pleased to announce the appointment of Kent R. Schneider as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Association. He succeeds VADM Herb Browne, USN (Ret.), who retired in February after more than five years of service as AFCEA's President and CEO. The appointment was confirmed by the AFCEA Board of Directors and Mr. Schneider will begin at AFCEA on August 1.Kent Schneider comes to AFCEA from Northrop Grumman Corporation's Information Technology (IT) sector, where he served as Vice President, Business Development, and previously as president of Northrop Grumman IT's Defense Group. A recognized leader in the IT field, he has more than 25 years of specific experience in designing, integrating, managing and teaching related to command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) supporting the Department of Defense.
After serving 26 years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, Mr. Schneider joined Litton PRC as the director of C4I Initiatives. He subsequently held positions as defense systems director of Advanced Programs general manager, Maritime and Ground Systems vice president and general manager, C3I Systems senior vice president and general manager, Defense Systems sector and president, Defense Systems division. Mr. Schneider joined Northrop Grumman IT in 2001 with the acquisition of Litton Industries by Northrop Grumman Corporation.
A graduate of the National War College, National Defense University, Mr. Schneider also holds a master's degree in information systems management from the University of Southern California and a bachelor's degree in business management from Augusta College.
Mr. Schneider has been actively involved in AFCEA since he joined the Army. He is currently the co-chair of the AFCEA Strategic Development Committee and has served on the AFCEA Technology Committee. He has received numerous awards from the Association, including Chairman's Superior Performance, AFCEA Educational Foundation Award for Distinguished Service to Education, and in 2004 won AFCEA's most prestigious award, the General James M. Rockwell AFCEAN of the Year.
