For Immediate Release

BROOKLYN, N.Y./EWORLDWIRE/Aug. 10, 2007 --- In honor of John Cage's birthday, Avant Media Performance presents an evening of two multimedia realizations of works by John Cage on September 5, 2007, Cage's 95th birthday at The Kitchen in New York. Bringing together musicians, filmmakers, actors, and technicians, this evening pays tribute to the collaborative and innovative legacy of the most important figure of 20th century music.

The centerpiece of the concert is a true musicircus with simultaneous performances of Cage's monumental chance-composed pieces 'Winter Music' for 1-20 pianos from 1957 performed by Randy Gibson and 'Atlas Eclipticalis' for orchestra from 1961-62 performed by a small ensemble of instrumentalists with a video conductor created by Oscar Henriquez and electronic manipulation by Mike Rugnetta utilizing the score for 'Cartridge Music.' Completing the musicircus are selections from 1970's 'Song Books,' a collection of 92 solos for voice, realized for actors by Laine Rettmer and Ben Forster; for voice by Megan Schubert; and for video by Ana Baer-Carrillo, Patrick Davison, and Randy Gibson with three versions of 'Solo for Voice 19' which will be projected in a chance-determined order behind the performers.

Opening the concert is 'FOUR^6' (for any way of producing sounds) written in March of 1992 in an electro-acoustic-visual realization by Davison, Gibson, Rugnetta and Schubert.

"It has been a remarkable experience creating these realizations," says Avant Media President Randy Gibson. "Being able to work with such a varied group of performers from so many backgrounds has been ear-opening and intense. Every musician should realize a Cage piece. It's an amazing lesson in composition." The evening will also feature Randy Gibson's 'One Wall - for John Cage' in a world-premiere sculptural sound installation prior to the performance.

Performance will take place at The Kitchen, 512 West 19th Street, NYC.

Concert starts at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 ($15 students, AMP members) presale or $25($20) the day of the performance.

Tickets are available starting August 15 exclusively at http://www.avantmedia.org.

Artists are available for interviews. Photos are available on request.
