The worldwide competition will be based on essay submissions from NSHSS members exploring their perspectives on the theme of diversity and inclusion. Submissions will be judged on ingenuity and quality. Scholarships will be awarded each year to the top candidates. Current NSHSS scholarship recipients attend some of the finest universities in the world including among others Georgetown, Howard, Harvard, Stanford, Yale, MIT, Morehouse and Spelman.
"In a world so connected by commonalities yet sometimes divided by differences, this partnership is exciting because it creates a platform where tomorrow's leaders - from around the world - can provide a thoughtful perspective on why it is important to embrace differences," said Todd Corley, VP Diversity & Inclusion, Abercrombie & Fitch. "It provides us a unique opportunity to identify the type of talent we need to help grow our brands domestically and internationally we are able to support the growth and development of tomorrow's leaders through scholarship and education."
"When I meet and speak with our members, I am encouraged about the future. Any help that we give them, our next generation of leaders, is extending a helping hand to tomorrow. That is why our partnership with Abercrombie & Fitch is so important," adds Claes Nobel, NSHSS founder and senior member of the family which established the Nobel Prizes. "The Abercrombie and Fitch Global Diversity and Leadership Scholar Awards establish an intellectual dialogue. I am very glad to have this opportunity to work with Abercrombie & Fitch and together focus on the future."
Abercrombie & Fitch sells high quality, collegiate-inspired, casual luxury clothing and targets young adults 18-22 years.
