ST. PETERSBURG, Fla./EWORLDWIRE/Aug. 19, 2008 --- John Kopinski, marketing director of BagmastersUSA, today announced that engineers have completed modifications on the pre-opened bags-on-a-roll production machine. The machine was manufactured by Sharp Engineering but needed the modifications to allow BagmastersUSA to run more lanes of production at higher speeds. By improving tension control on the input and output ends of the machine, BagmastersUSA was able to improve the already high quality of its bags. By making the machine wider, engineers were able to allow BagmastersUSA to increase the number of lanes that produce simultaneously. BagmastersUSA produces both plain and printed bags up to 10 colors on two sides with the newly modified machine. Pre-opened bags-on-a-roll are also known as "autobags." Autobags were invented by Hershey and Berney Lerner in the late 1960s. Autobags were patented until 1986 when the patent expired, and BagmastersUSA was legally permitted to begin producing them also. Autobag is a registered trademark belonging to the Lerners. Autobags are found in most all industries all around the world. BagmastersUSA calls their bags pre-opened on-a-roll so as not to violate the trademark held by the Lerners. BagmastersUSA is a nationwide manufacturer of all types of plastic bags. Kopinski stated, "Customers that have come to rely on our high quality of plastic bag manufacturing can now get that same high quality for their pre-opened bags-on-a-roll needs."
Pre-Opened bags-on-a-roll are used by many companies as part of a labor saving system. The bag is manufactured connected end to end much like the produce bags in a grocery store. The difference is that one side of the bag has the perforations already separated at the factory so that they can be dispensed by an automatic bagging machine that blows a puff of air into the bag so that the packer just has to drop a product into the bag and hit the seal switch.
In addition to the improvements to its pre-opened bags-on-a-roll production, the Web site of BagmastersUSA at 'http://www.bagmastersusa.com' has been updated to include online ordering.
