Media Advisory

VISTA, Calif./EWORLDWIRE/Nov. 14, 2008 --- E-World Recyclers will conduct a Free Collection Event at Miramar College in San Diego on Saturday, Nov. 15. Anyone who has used or end-of-life computers or consumer electronics that they wish to dispose of is encouraged to come and drop them off between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. While there will be no cost to recycle these items, in order to comply with State Law, a drivers' license or California ID must be shown.

Although in the last few decades the ever-increasing rate of technological change has led to many improvements in life it has also created a vast array of products which are difficult to recycle and often contain hazardous chemicals. "Electronic waste can become a serious problem you don't know what to do with it," said Cindy Erie, president of E-World Recyclers. "Unfortunately there have been many in this industry who have not acted as responsible stewards of the environment."

A case in point are the problems which can arise when e-waste is simply exported to other nations without adequate precautions being taken. A recent segment on the television program, "60 Minutes," recently once again sought to make the public aware of this and of the persistent efforts by the watchdog group the Basel Action Network.

"We are delighted," Erie continued, "that these problems are being talked about in such a public way. To preserve our commitment to protecting the environment, we have put into place many processes that safeguard against improper handling in our facility." Any further processing beyond the E-World Recyclers plant is only handled by those who have undergone downstream due diligence which includes a viability questionairre, documentation of environmental and safety compliance and an on-site audit. Any export practices involve obtaining assurances that these materials are being handled properly and legally by downstream vendors and will need documentation showing the export is legal under the laws of the receiving country.

E-World Recyclers also recently participated in the creation of the Responsible Recycling (R2) practices Document which was authored by a multi-stake holder committee with the support of the Environmental Protection Agency. This set of guidelines will put into place practical and stringent protocols and procedures for handling electronic waste. "We are very proud to be involved in this effort and will be one of the first e-recyclers to be R2 Certified."

The upcoming Recycling Event will be held Saturday, Nov. 15, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the main Campus Parking Lot. Miramar College is located at 10440 Black Mountain Road in the City of San Diego. For further information, contact E-World Recyclers at 760599-0888 or visit 'http://www.eworldrecyclers.com'.
