April 7-8: AFCEA USSTRATCOM Cyberspace Symposium Omaha, Neb.

    Speaker Update

    Media Advisory

FAIRFAX, Va./EWORLDWIRE/April 1, 2009 --- The first annual U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) Cyberspace Symposium, focusing on Advancing Cyberspace Capabilities to Deliver Integrated Effects, will be held at the Qwest Center Omaha April 7-8, 2009.

During the Symposium, senior DoD, U.S. and allied government, industry and academia participants will share their perspectives with attendees about advancing cyberspace capabilities. Attendees will also gain awareness about industry best practices, common threats and vulnerabilities of .com, .mil, .edu, .org, and .gov domains, and strengthening joint cyberspace relationships. The Symposium includes numerous professional development and training opportunities, including keynote addresses, panel sessions, track sessions, and an exhibition.

The Cyberspace Symposium agenda includes speakers that will discuss timely and pressing issues facing cyberspace security:

. The Honorable William Lynn, III, Deputy Secretary of Defense
. Gen Kevin P. Chilton, USAF, Commander, U.S. Strategic Command
. LTG Keith Alexander, USA, Director, National Security Agency
. Lt Gen Harry D. Raduege, Jr., USAF (Ret.), Chairman, Center for Network Innovation, Deloitte & Touche LLP, and former Director, Defense Information Systems Agency
. Mr. Scott Charney, Corporate Vice President, Trustworthy Computing, Microsoft Corporation
. Mr. Rod Beckstrom, Independent Cybersecurity Advisor, Author, The Starfish and the Spider: The Unstoppable Power of Leaderless Organizations

This inaugural symposium combines military, government, industry and academic thought leaders in three panel sessions. These panels will discuss cyber issues from the U.S. Government, Combatant Command, and International perspectives.

Attendees will also participate in small concurrent break-out sessions where they will receive a cyberspace problem or issue to discuss and provide recommended solutions. These track sessions will focus on operations, mitigating the threat, and cyberspace deterrence. The ideas generated from these sessions will be provided to USSTRATCOM for review and possible execution.

In addition, the exhibition will feature defense contractors and government agencies showcasing their solutions to cyberspace and cyber warfare issues.

The USSTRATCOM Cyberspace Symposium is the event for military and government personnel, large corporations, small businesses, and university faculty and students to dialogue about key cyber challenges and solutions. There is a registration fee to attend the conference (discounted registration available for military/government personnel and students); program details and registration are available on-line at 'http://www.afcea.org/events/stratcom'.
