NeuroHealing to Present Data on NH02D Premature Ejaculation Drug at AUA Meeting

Chicago meeting will highlight positive effect of acute NH02D administration for treatment of premature ejaculation

    Media Advisory

NEWTON, Mass./EWORLDWIRE/April 13, 2009 --- NeuroHealing Pharmaceuticals, a private, clinical stage company developing innovative drug treatments for specialty indications based on repositioning neurologically active compounds, announces the presentation of positive pre-clinical results of its premature ejaculation drug NH02D at the American Urological Association (AUA) annual meeting (April 25-30, 2009, Chicago, USA). The AUA Annual Scientific Meeting is the largest meeting of urologic professionals in the world, attended by more than 10,000 urologists and healthcare professionals from around the world.

NeuroHealing conducted pre-clinical animal studies of NH02D in a validated animal model of premature ejaculation in collaboration with Dr. Lesley Marson, Department of Surgery / Urology, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Marson's presentation is entitled. "Effects of NH02D on Ejaculation Latency and Sexual Behavior in Rats." The data demonstrate the effectiveness of acute oral administration of NH02D to produce a dose dependant increase in the latency to ejaculation. Importantly, the delay in ejaculation was accompanied by maintenance of other parameters of sexual function, including an observed increase in mounting behavior, suggesting that NH02D mechanism of action to delay ejaculation is different from the currently off-label used anti-depressants, which tend to decrease libido and sexual function. No adverse reactions from NH02D treatment were observed.

Based on these results, which confirm anecdotal reports of delayed ejaculation in man, acute oral administration of NH02D appears to be effective in specifically increasing the latency to ejaculation while not adversely affecting libido.

About NH02D Program for the Treatment of Premature Ejaculation

NH02D is a neurologically active, orally administered drug that is being developed for on-demand treatment of premature ejaculation. During testing of NH02D in healthy volunteers, the drug was reported to delay ejaculation during sexual activity. Subsequently, the effectiveness of NH02D has been demonstrated in a validated animal model of premature ejaculation in collaboration with Dr. Lesley Marson at the University of North Carolina.

Premature ejaculation is the most prevalent male sexual disorder affecting up to 30 percent of sexually active men and is even more prevalent than erectile dysfunction - a $3.4 billion market in 2007. Currently, there are no clinically proven products available for the treatment of this disorder in the United States.
