The Sultanian Foundation Launches IranQuakeRelief.com To Raise Funds For Quake Victims

    For Immediate Release

SCHENECTADY, N.Y./EWORLDWIRE/Dec. 30, 2003 --- The Sultanian Foundation, a non-profit social disaster relief organization, today launched the website IranQuakeRelief.com to collect monetary donations for the victims of the earthquake-stricken people of Bam in Iran's southeastern province of Keran. The website, found at http://www.IranQuakeRelief.com, allows anyone to submit secure donations of any amount to help the victims of last Friday's disaster.

"In times of such tragedy, we must put aside our religious and ideological differences and realize we are all human. We all feel pain and sorrow, but more importantly, we can all find comfort in the kindness of strangers, even those who are worlds away," said Dheeraj Sultanian, Chairman of The Sultanian Foundation, who is the main organizer of the site. "Our site is less than 24 hours old and already we have received an outpouring of support that is beyond our wildest expectations, but we can always use more help."

100 percent of the proceeds from this site will go directly to helping the victims of the quake rebuild their lives. "The Sultanian Foundation has no paid employees. Everyone involved in this campaign have donated their time for the maximum benefit of those who really need aid," said Director Dr. Rachna Sultanian.

Sponsor Infosupply.com has donated Internet services and support for the campaign.

A strong quake, 6.3 degrees on the Richter scale, rocked Bam before dawn (0158 GMT) Friday, flattening about 70 percent of the mostly mud-brick buildings in the ancient Silk Road city, around 1,000 km (600 miles) southeast of the capital, Tehran. Over 25,000 were reported dead and cemeteries have overflowed with corpses.
