FAIRFAX, Va./EWORLDWIRE/Sep. 30, 2009 --- Dr. William Nolte, Dr. William Nolte, Research Professor and Director of the Program on Intelligence Education and Research, School of Public Policy, University of Maryland, has been selected to lead the AFCEA ('http://www.afcea.org') Intelligence Committee. As the committee's chairman, he will provide direction to the members of the AFCEA Intelligence Committee, helping guide AFCEA's outreach to intelligence professionals in both government and industry.An expert in intelligence, Dr. Nolte completed a thirty-year career with the U.S. government in 2006 as chancellor of the National Intelligence University System and assistant deputy director of national intelligence, within the office of the Director of National Intelligence. He previously served in a range of educational, executive, and analytic positions at the National Security Agency, the National Intelligence Council, and the Central Intelligence Agency. Dr. Nolte is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and is an adjunct member of the faculties of the United States Army War College and the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.
Dr. Nolte replaces outgoing Committee Chair Chris Haakon. "Chris has done an outstanding job over the last three years in steering the committee, making it more active and engaged during a challenging time in our nation's history," says AFCEA International Vice President for Intelligence Colonel Steven Ritchey, USAF (Ret.). "We are excited to have Bill take over the reins as we look to expand the significance of the committee's activities. He brings to the job a wealth of experience and knowledge on current intelligence issues and operations that is simply hard to come by, and we know the Intelligence Community, the Department of Defense, the private sector that supports them, and AFCEA will benefit from his leadership," he added.
Also joining the Intelligence Committee as new members are: Maj Gen Robert H. Latiff, Ph.D., USAF (Ret), Director, Intelligence and Security Research Center, George Mason University; The Honorable Sue C. Payton, President, SCI Aerospace, Inc.; Ms. Terry Williams Roberts, Executive Director, Software Engineering Institute, Carnegie Mellon University; Mr. Daniel G.Wolf, President/CEO, Cyber Pack Ventures Inc.; and Mr. Jack Wilmer, Vice President Integrated Defense Systems, FGM Inc. "These new members bring years of experience and service in the Intelligence Community that will significantly enhance AFCEA's continuing efforts to build bridges between the public and private sectors. We are honored to add them to the team," stated Col. Ritchey.
The AFCEA Intelligence Committee is comprised of sixty representatives from government intelligence agencies and the private sector. Its purpose is to enhance AFCEA's outreach to the U.S. Intelligence Community to cultivate a spirit of partnership between the governmental and industrial sectors. The Committee provides forums, including symposia, meetings, and papers, for the exchange of ideas within the Community.
