Local Student Aaron Allen Receives National Scholar Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kamuela, Hawaii/EWORLDWIRE/December 18, 2002 --- Aaron Allen, Hawaii Preparatory Academy student of Irvine, California, has been selected to receive a $1,000 National Scholar Award from The National Society of High School Scholars.

The Society inducts outstanding high school students and honors them for superior academic achievement. Aaron was selected for the award from among 14,000 applicants.

The final scholarship selections are based on academic performance, demonstrated leadership, community involvement, and recommendations from school personnel. The Society awards four $5,000 scholarships to members annually - two in the fall and two in the spring. There were also seven $1,000 National Scholar Awards announced.

Claes Nobel, honorary chairman of the Society, congratulated the winners from Oslo, Norway, where he was in attendance at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony honoring President Jimmy Carter.
