A radio show had a bit entitled, "The Call Of The Day," which would feature someone calling into the station with a real life scenario - a good friend of is getting married and the hall is booked, and the friend is very stressed that everything just goes right. The radio D.J. would call up the bride to be and pose as management of the hall claiming to be overbooked, unable to honour the booking. The whole telephone conversation is aired on live radio, and whoever is listening to that station is hearing a bride-to-be absolutely lose it. All the invitations have been sent out by now; the call comes in maybe on a Tuesday or Wednesday and the wedding is on Saturday. There is absolutely no time to find another place or even inform the 100 or more guests of the change. This scenario changes nice girls into another kind of creature - one no one wants to be 100 yards from. Of course expletives are filling the airwaves, some tears, a lot of anger, tantrums and a whole range of other emotions. Would this be a good time to tell her that this was only a joke played on her by her best friend and that she is on the radio so all her friends know what she is really like under the gun. Stress is not the enemy - stress is nature's way of putting on the pressure to let one know what needs to be done and do it or to get someone else to. Stress is not an excuse to take drugs; it does not give one licence to be rude or mean-spirited, or to hurt or offend loved ones. Says Rev. Stephen Ongo, "Stress has a purpose and you should recognize that purpose and use it. Don't let it control your personality to the point people say she's a nice person but don't get her stressed. My exhortation to the Brides to be - don't let stress change you because it's inevitable it will visit your wedding. Use it; work with it . Stress can get a lot of good and necessary things done for your special day so don't treat it like an unwelcome enemy."
