PHOTO AVAILABLE: Classic Muscle Cars Unveils Rarest Early Mustang Collection in the World

    For Immediate Release

WAUCONDA, Ill./EWORLDWIRE/Aug. 25, 2007 --- ClassicMuscleCars.com today announced the unveiling of the rarest early Mustang Collection in the world. This Mustang Collection consists of seven vehicles:

. Four 1964 - Mustang Pace Car Edition Coupes. Only 190 of these Coupes were built under the direction of Lee Iacocca as an incentive program for Ford dealers. This promotional competition was planned to distribute Pace Car Editions to dealers nationwide as a sales performance reward. Many of these coupes were lost and destroyed over the years. It is estimated by experts that approximately ten restored, roadworthy examples exist.

. 1964 - Mustang Convertible #1. This is the earliest known Mustang Convertible manufactured for sale to the public. 185 pre- production prototype Mustangs were assembled on March 5, 1964. First day of regular production was March 9. This Convertible is number 212, the first Convertible built the first day of production and the earliest production number in existence today. Full documentation and owner history since new. The extensive document file includes a letter from William Clay Ford. Convertible #1 was the featured Mustang at the Towe Museum in Sacramento, Calif. for several years.

. 1964 - Mustang #40. The San Jose Plant manufactured 1964 Mustangs for only 18 days. According to Registries and available information, this Coupe is the earliest known San Jose produced Mustang in the world- Number 40. In addition, this vehicle rolled off the assembly line with several rare options - D Code 289 Cu. In. engine, Rally Pac, and Air Conditioning. Mustang #40 is undergoing a complete restoration and will join the Pace Car Editions and Convertible #1 on display in the ClassicMuscleCars.com showroom by Fall.

. 1966 - Mustang Mustero. Possibly one of the rarest Mustang Hybrid Conversions. In 1965/1966 Ford authorized Beverly Hills Mustang LTD in Beverly Hills, Calif. to custom build approximately 50 Mustang Coupes into Mustang/Ranchero Hybrids. The company modified body, engine and drive train components to create a Mustang Mini Pickup. The cost of this conversion was approximately $6,500, making the Mustero as expensive as a Shelby Cobra. The Mustero is also scheduled for a complete restoration and will join the collection in the showroom before the end of the year.

The general public is invited to visit the ClassicMuscleCars.com showroom at 25084 W. Old Rand Rd. in Wauconda, Ill.. and view these rare Mustangs in person. Complete information and regular updates are also available on the website, 'http://www.classicmusclecars.com'">http://www.classicmusclecars.com'.

In addition to the Rarest Mustang Collection, enthusiasts may enjoy six showrooms filled with rare and unusual Historical American Classics. Included are:

. The only 1971 T5 Mach I Fastback in the world

. The 1969 Ford F350 Car Hauler owned by Mickey Thompson - Used to transport the Danny Ongais piloted 1969 Mustang Boss 429 Funny Car during their Dream Season, in which they were victorious in almost every event and match race they entered.
