FDI Details Usana Health Sciences Inc. New Scientific Advisory Council Old-Resume-Blunder-Feel in FBI and SEC Letters
For Immediate Release
SAN DIEGO, Calif./EWORLDWIRE/Sep. 5, 2007 --- The Fraud Discovery Institute released a letter to the FBI and the SEC late yesterday drawing attention to yet another resume blunder posted on the Usana Health Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ:USNA) official Web site. Dr. Ricardo Calderon, Md., who, according to his resume works for the Los Angeles Public Health Department and is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Kesk School of Medicine at USC, is not a licensed physician anywhere in the United States.
"What you have here is Usana replacing Dr. Ladd McNamara from the Medical Advisory Board - who appears to have violated California law by claiming to be an 'Md.' while living in the state of California when he was not licensed in the State to practice medicine - with another resident of California who boasts of the initials 'Md.' next to his name - who likewise is not licensed in the state of California to practice medicine," said Co-Founder Barry Minkow.
"One would think that after what the company has endured with one resume blunder after another that it would, in the abundance of caution, err towards caution before posting another apparent 'expert' that is an unlicensed physician in the state of California."
FDI also revealed that Dr. Ricardo Calderon is really Mario Ricardo Calderon who graduated from a medical school in Guatemala but is not a licensed physician anywhere in the U.S. The FDI report also revealed an apparent conflict of interest in that Dr. Calderon is a silver direct associate in the Usana multi level marketing business - an apparent conflict of interest for someone positioned by the company as a scientific expert imputing credibility to the company's vitamins.
