Fundraiser to bolster family-in-need

Media Advisory

RANDOLPH, N.J./EWORLDWIRE/Nov. 10, 2008 --- When the community became aware of Hopatcong, New Jersey mother Donna Garland - mother of four, 11-year-old quadruplets, Kevin, Paige, Brian and Sean, it was to discover the young mom is currently battling four brain tumors. This diagnosis came on the heels of surgery for lung cancer, and despite current treatments, her two-year struggle has left her body and her family, colleagues and extended St. Andrew family, devastated. Donna is on disability for an indeterminate amount of time, and there is no relief in sight.

In support of the family of Donna and Brian Garland, St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church members are now transforming a planned "Marinara Sauce Throw Down" contest - for the benefit of the St Andrew Community - to use all proceeds for the benefit of the Garland family. The "Who's Sauce Is Boss?" Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser proceeds will be provided to the Garlands to help cover their mortgage and mounting medical bills.

George Moshen, St. Andrew Parish Council president, commented: "Through it all, Donna remains strong for her family and keeps her positive outlook. Donna's spirit, strength and resolve are an inspiration to all who know her. On the Garland family's behalf, we at St Andrew Greek Orthodox Church have opened our facilities and our hearts as we 'circle the wagons' around this family in this most trying of times."

The public is invited to demonstrate multi-denominational support in word and deed by joining this most deserving family in the St. Andrew church hall at 1447 Sussex Turnpike in Randolph, N.J. On Saturday, Nov. 22, doors open at 6:00 p.m. Great food, music, and an affirmation of life will be joined as participants help this inspiring family with love and finances. Tickets: adults $20, children under 12, $10.

Those unable to attend who would like to participate with contributions for the family may contact:
