Linatex Australia Dedicated To Best Manufacturing Teams

Linatex Monthly Global Update: Linatex Australia Dedicated to Ensuring Manufacturing Teams are the Very Best in Industry

For Immediate Release

MELBOURNE, Victoria Australia/EWORLDWIRE/Nov. 14, 2008 --- Linatex is leading the way to ensure that its Australian rubber liners, hose makers and warehousing managers are the best in the industry. Working in partnership with the Australian government, Linatex has developed the Pay for Skills program a process that assesses the specific skill level of an employee, and results in a nationally recognised formal qualification.

Linatex has a commitment to ensuring that its Australian production employees are recognised formally for the skills that they demonstrate on a daily basis. Encouraging the development of these skills through the delivery of structured training programmes ensures that the company's products are made safely and meet quality specifications across all sites. Involvement in such a training programme also ensures a qualified employee is in close proximity to even the remotest of customers' sites.

The Pay for Skills program provides Linatex staff with a unique opportunity, working in partnership with the Australian government, to qualify in Certificate 3 - Process Manufacturing, similar to obtaining a trade qualification. Consisting of four distinct skill levels, the `Pay for Skills' program is divided into three specialist areas: hose making, rubber lining and warehousing.

The program recognises the skills that employees master in their chosen field or fields, and it provides a structured training program that encourages workers to continually improve their skill set until they have satisfied the highest industry standards.

Within the last 12 months Linatex has successfully qualified 20 employees, with many more employees currently working their way towards qualification. "The Pay for Skills program allows Linatex to meet the promise of consistent skilled manufacturing. The mining industry has often faced differing levels of what is considered skilled. By working together with the Australian government, Linatex has developed a program that meets the highest standards available," says Madeleine Allnut, Linatex Global HR Director.

S.E. Davis Increases Recycling Capabilities With The Help Of Linatex

Linatex has assisted S. E. Davis in the development of a mobile aggregate washing system that allows materials separation and the recycling of water onsite. S.E. Davis & Son is a family owned and operated business that has been located in Astwood Bank, Worcestershire, for 70 years. There are several distinct but complementary operations within the business. The company offers the widest range of landscaping materials in the area. Also available for hire a heavy earth-moving plant with operators or as self-drive, backed by extensive specialist experience offering crushing and screening services to the quarrying and demolition industries.

Considered unique, the mobile system does not require either a constant supply of clean water for washing nor vast settlement lagoons in which to dispose of the used water. The new mobile plant incorporates a water recycling unit that allows full recycling of the water in the system. As well as increasing the proportion of re-usable products that are produced, the fully mobile unit also allows materials processing onsite.

Linatex expertise has provided the technology to allow the new system to accommodate the two very different duties and to treat the solids and reduce the silt (-75micron) content. The duty requirements accommodate surface dressing -8tph of solids associated with 100gpm of water and granite dust and 50tph of solids associated with 300gpm of water. With dry SG of solids 2.6 and all -4mm material with approximately 10 percent passing 75 micron with approximately 180gpm of overflow water is fed to the water treatment unit. The waste surface dressing material which is fed into the system is a very aggressive, course and angular material.

To provide superior operational efficiency and wear-life Linatex abrasion resistant linings were installed throughout the system in pumps, hose and cyclones.

The process is fairly simple, operating at 80tph waste material is delivered into the hopper of a mobile 20 x 5 2-deck rinsing screen. From this screen 10-4 and 20-10 material is fed to separate stockpiles. The remainder of the washed material is then gravity fed to a Linatex tank and then pumped to the Linatex G4 Hydrocyclone and fed over a dewatering screen which supplies sand to stockpile. Dirty water is then pumped into the stirrer tank and dealt with by the mobile centrifuge. Clean water back from the centrifuge is then delivered to the water storage tank Linatex supplied two G4 Hydrocyclones model GEN250 and GEN375, with support mounted over the dewatering screen as well as 80mm and 150mm overflow pipework to the collecting tank.

The collecting tank was completed with two outlets to suit pumps with 50mm and 150mm suction pipework to the pumps. Final elements included two Linapump models 5050 and150125 with 50mm and 125mm feed pipework to the cyclones.

Paul Davis, director, commented, "We are very pleased. Linatex has been very helpful and the firm's skilled staff have used their expertise to tailor a solution to suit the application. The equipment is very reliable and the plant is performing exactly as required." The new mobile aggregate washing plant is proving very popular for the recycling of road chippings by local authorities and their contractors with the unit recently employed as far as Norfolk.
