NEW YORK/EWORLDWIRE/Oct. 27, 2009 --- According to author and artist Victor-Hugo Vaca Jr., the controversial story covered by CBS reporter Hazel Sanchez - with tentacles that reach from New York to Florida and challenges real issues including First Amendment Rights, racial/ religious profiling, and discrimination - was buried by CBS 2 NY in favor of stories about French shoe designer Christian Louboutin alleging the existence of Barbie Doll "cankles" and Balloon Boy, Falcon Heene, updates. Vaca says CBS producers would not comment on why Sanchez's segment was not aired. Vaca, the Hispanic multimedia artist who calls the road his home, was pulled over in Southold, Long Island, New York, on Oct. 11, 2009 at11:25 a.m. by a black Suffolk County police officer offended by a bumper sticker featuring the words, "Crackhead Jesus is coming."
The officer issued Vaca a citation (#BC2257220) for an unauthorized sticker, located on the bottom right-hand corner of Vaca's rear passenger side window. Vaca claims the sticker is a promotional tool for his controversial Modern Art Graphic iNovel, "The Story of the Crackhead Jesus Trials" (http://www.crackheadjesus.com'). Vaca states that the officer wrote up the ticket after checking his Florida driver's license and Florida License plate for any possible warrants.
"He handed me the ticket and asked sternly, 'What's the deal with the Crackhead Jesus sticker?' so I told him. He said he was doing me a favor by giving me the ticket," stated Vaca. "The sticker was not obstructing any view. Since when did parts of New York declare an Inquisition on Free Speech and peaceful artistic expression?"
The artist/film maker claims he was passing through Southold en route to the Hampton International Film Festival to promote his cryptic saga which has become known as "Crackhead Jesus" among worldwide fans. He describes the story as a Harry Potter for adults about false prophets and lawyers inspired by actual events detailed in his diary of the world on canvas. Victor-Hugo, calling his work "Modern Art Gonzo Journalism" has raised eyebrows, tempers, and now issues of Free Speech, police profiling, and the power of U.S. networks to deliver news.
Vaca's case that the NYS DMV does not list this violation with road signs nor explain what is or is not an authorized sticker will be heard by Judge William H. Price Jr. at the Southhold Town Justice Court.
"There's no warning that drivers expressing political or religious associations in Suffolk County, N.Y., could be fined," added Vaca. "Though, I doubt the cop would have punished me if I had an 'Obama loves Jesus' sticker on my window."
