GTC BioTech Introduces Patented Handheld Device to Relieve Sinusitis and Cold Congestion With Micro-Electrical Stimulation

For Immediate Release

SAN JOSE, Calif./EWORLDWIRE/Dec. 30, 2013 --- Relief for millions of sufferers from sinusitis and related illnesses - over 92,000,000 in the U.S. alone and over 700 million worldwide, has been released by GTC BioTech. The FDA-approved, patented pocket-sized handheld device is aimed at providing relief and management of chronic sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, and head cold congestion in what is estimated to be a $5.2 billion segment in the $70 billion medical market.

The GTC BioTech product is the first of its kind. Non-invasive, painless and convenient to use, the device applies a pulsating micro-current to specific cavity sites to relieve sufferers' symptoms within minutes. Unlike traditional products using drugs, the device has no known side effects; products for sinusitis and allergies offered by major pharmaceutical companies are always consumed internally.

Here's how the GTC BioTech device works:

Sufferers hold the device near the nose or face and, when clicked, a tiny amount of current passes through the affected areas for 8 seconds to reduce inflammation. This restores proper air passage so sufferers can breathe easily again.

Additionally, the electrical current from the device can be used for a variety of other clinical conditions including reducing pain and promoting healing of soft tissue injuries such as sprains, wounds, and post-surgical scars. This method has even been used to promote the healing of fractures and to stimulate bone growth.

GTC BioTech has a long history in the medical field. The company first began working on a device to help sinusitis sufferers in 1990s and initially sold over 1,000 units of the product through only catalogs and advertisements in printed media. Since then, the company received over 2,000 vendor applications to distribute the device worldwide, along with testimonials from thousands of satisfied users. With the help of the Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati law firm in Palo Alto, Calif., GTC BioTech reengineered the product with more high tech features to meet FDA guidelines for medical devices, and it received a U.S. non-provisional patent in 2012.

Now GTC BioTech is using the power of the Internet, along with catalog sales, global vendor distributors, and TV infomercials to let sufferers and their families know that relief is at hand. At the same time, the GTC BioTech is raising additional funding for increasing its production from 1,000 to 25,000 units in the next year and to 100,000 units in the following year - or even more in response to popular demand. The company has already spent nearly $4 million in developing and marketing the product and is seeking an additional $5 million for its second round of financing for the worldwide release of the product and manufacturing it in the United States.
