April 22-24: Explore Mars Collaborates With Uwingu on Humans to Mars Summit

Host Venue: George Washington University, Washington, D.C.

Media Advisory

BEVERLY, Mass./EWORLDWIRE/March 19, 2014 --- Explore Mars announces a key collaboration with Uwingu to help advance shared goals and to build excitement and support for Mars exploration.

As part of this collaboration, Uwingu will become a sponsor of the Humans to Mars Summit (H2M) that will take place on April 22-24, 2014, at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Explore Mars and Uwingu will also publicize each organization's programs over the upcoming weeks.

"We are extremely happy to have Uwingu supporting H2M," commented Explore Mars Executive Director Chris Carberry. "Uwingu has developed an innovative program with its Mars Map Crater Naming project that engages the public unlike any other program.

"The Uwingu Fund provides a valuable service with grants in support of space researchers, educators, and entrepreneurs."

Uwingu CEO Alan Stern will also be speaking at H2M. According to Stern, "We're really proud to award our first meeting sponsorship grant to Explore Mars' Humans to Mars Summit, a key gathering for the exploration of Mars.

"Given the popularity we're seeing from people who want to help name craters on our new Mars map, we expect to generate many more grants as our Mars Map Crater Naming Project moves toward its goal of completing the naming of over 500,000 unnamed, scientifically catalogued craters on Mars by the end of 2014, the 50th anniversary of Mars exploration."

To register for the Humans to Mars Summit, visit the H2M website at http://h2m2014.exploremars.org. To take a rare historical opportunity to name a Mars crater, visit the Uwingu site at http://www.Uwingu.com.
