Media Advisory

RANDOLPH, NJ/EWORLDWIRE/May 5, 2015 --- Tucked away in a western corner of Morris County, one might find it hard to believe just how many people will find out about and then travel - sometimes a significant distance - to enjoy and share the BIG GREEK FESTIVAL experience.

Yet, each year, thousands converge as they are sure to do again this year which marks the 45th year of the celebration of all things characteristic of a Greek community gathering.

Attending for the first time, visitors are often surprised by the mix of sights, sounds and delicious scents that greet them before they've even crossed the threshold. Some of the tantalizing smells can be attributed to an outdoor seating area in the under-the-tent taverna with adjacent hot grills laden with sizzling, seasoned souvlaki. The menu selections are the perfect accompaniment to any number of bar selections, especially with last year's introduction of the exclusive Big Greek Festival drink, the "Blue Greek," using Ouzo as its base.

On each of three days, there is a variety of activities suitable for all ages to entertain:

- Friday: 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Big Greek Festival begins with a lunchtime take-out or eat-in menu; 5:00 p.m. the doors reopen for dinner and evening events through 11:30 p.m.

- Saturday: 12:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.

- Sunday: 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Key ingredients central to the characteristic Greek community gathering encompass:

- Hot off the grill traditional dishes
- Homemade desserts and delicacies, available to be enjoyed on site and taken home
- Live Greek music / singing and entertainment, featuring Greek folk dancing
- Traditional Greek wines and liquors
- Family friendly area for younger children

One of the must-do items on the agenda is a tour of the church lead by Fr. John Theodosian, who details the unique features of the facility home to stunning artistry, hand crafted by formally trained artisans. The church bookstore is a preferred stop on the visit.
Youth of the St. Andrew community study traditional dance all year long in preparation for the multiple scheduled shows throughout the weekend. Two groups - one comprised of quite young toddlers and the other of older teens who begin on stage and move a short while later through the crowds, drawing visitors to their feet to join in the fun.

Each year's marketplace, modeled after traditional open markets, features a variety of local businesses which produce handicrafts, unique fashions, home decor and art, and service providers of all types.

Facilities are wheelchair accessible. Visa/Mastercard are accepted, and ATM is available onsite.

A coupon for free admission is available at festival partners throughout the region, on the website and social media, and at businesses in the area, as well as online at http://www.biggreekfestival.com and Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/biggreekfestival.
