ISI Thermal Imaging Cameras Incorporate New Technology To Provide Unprecedented Picture Quality and Image

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lawrenceville, GA/EWORLDWIRE/July 19, 2002 --- International Safety Instruments Inc. (ISI), the company known by firefighters for technology that saves time, has created a line of thermal imaging cameras that provides unprecedented picture quality.

The ISI Surveyor and ISI Navigator Digital are the only firefighting thermal imaging cameras with an available reverse polarity feature that allows the heat signature to be switched between "black hot" and "white hot," giving the firefighter significantly greater clarity and definition of the scene.

The picture quality of ISI's thermal imaging cameras is further enhanced by the incorporation of a Raytheon digital core, which enhances image quality over past technologies.

The ISI Surveyor and ISI Navigator Digital are the world's most popular thermal imaging camera styles. Built with state-of-the-art technology, both feature a lens with automatic iris to ensure instant definition and eliminate the need for cumbersome hand focusing.

"These innovations combine to save time in search-and-rescue operations," said Tim McDonald, Product Manager/Thermal Imaging. "And each second is critical in protecting lives and property."

The rugged ISI cameras have an outer shell that is flame resistant and heat reflective, and a built-in sensor automatically monitors its internal operating temperature. They are waterproof and designed to pass the three-foot drop test at any angle. A thick, shock absorbent bumper shields the lens from damage and impact.

Just as important to firefighters, the units are ergonomically designed for ease of use and minimal user fatigue.

Advanced features available on ISI's thermal imaging cameras include Direct Digital Temperature Readout, which measures temperatures of doors, walls and other objects; Digital Zoom to instantly reduce the distance between firefighter and victim by 50 percent; and Wireless Video Transmission System, which transmits a video signal to a remote monitor at the Incident Command Center.

Other advantages of the ISI cameras are an internal battery charger, a standby mode to extend battery life and eliminate warm-up time (Navigator Digital only), and a sensor overload warning system to alert the user to the potential for image degradation due to excessively high temperature.

ISI is a leading manufacturer of thermal imaging systems and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBAs) for firefighting, law enforcement and industrial users. ISI provides product training for firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, Hazmat specialists and other safety service professionals. The company also provides service and repair for all of its products. More information on ISI and its products is available at www.intsafety.com.
