INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF PROFESSIONAL
EXECUTIVE PROTECTION TO SPEAK AT SILICON VALLEY
HOMELAND SECURITY SUMMIT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAN JOSE, California/December 12, 2001 – The International Institute of Professional Executive Protection, the only direct State accredited post-secondary school in the United States that creates and delivers certified educational and training programs in high-risk security, dignitary protection and counter terrorism, today announced that it’s President and Founder, Nirmalya Bhowmick will speak at the Silicon Valley Technology and Homeland Security Summit and Expo on December 13, 2001.
The Summit will feature 12 informative panel discussions on an array of topics including biosecurity and
cybersecurity, military defense, and public policy and infrastructure issues. The Summit’s keynote speaker is Mr. Thomas
Siebel, Chairman and CEO of Siebel Systems, Inc. Mr. Bhowmick will close the Summit with an address on the topic of “Terrorism and Corporate Risk”.
“Many Silicon Valley based corporations are known worldwide and their names are often considered symbols of America itself. Terror groups have made it clear that one of their goals is to destroy the U.S. economy; attacking high profile companies could be seen as a means to accomplish that goal,’ said Mr.
Bhowmick. “Additionally, as security is tightened at government buildings and airports, U.S. businesses become a more likely target of anti-American terrorist activity. It is important for our overall national security that the corporate sector take this threat seriously and make the necessary steps toward education and defense.”
The Summit is dedicated to exploring the latest role technology plays in meeting the threats of terrorism and the consequent opportunities for the retraining, education and employment of the Silicon Valley workforce for this growing industry sector. The Summit will showcase the technologies, products and companies battling terrorism at home and abroad. Summit attendees include executives of Silicon Valley based companies; technologists; state, county, and municipal emergency services staff; and public health, police and fire officials. The Summit is presented by the San Jose Mercury News and the Silicon Valley Workforce Investment Network. Summit sponsors include KNTV, the City of San Jose, the San Jose/Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Siebel Systems, Inc.
