Classic Muscle Cars: Only Known Photographed Classic Muscle 1967 Shelby on the Factory Assembly Line, With VIN Number Proof

For Immediate Release

KNOXVILLE, Tenn./EWORLDWIRE/Jan. 21, 2014 --- ClassicMuscleCars.com owner, historian, and classic muscle car expert Tony Begley today announced:

"This is the 'Holy Grail' of all classic muscle cars! Its VIN number was photographed as the car was being assembled - born - on the Shelby Factory assembly line in 1967. When I was able to grasp that fact, I was blown away!

"Of the millions of 60s and early 70s muscle cars produced, this is the only one you can look at the photo of, on the assembly line, and confirm it is the same car today. It's iconic."

Begley started researching the car last January when he was contacted by the car's owner. "I have always loved to research. All cars have a story to tell. I have spent years on cars to document them."

The car all the excitement is about is a 1967 Shelby GT500 that was on the front cover of The Shelby American magazine #67. "I contacted Dave Mathews of Shelby American Auto Club (SAAC) when I started researching the Shelby and eventually received permission directly from Rick Kopec to use the photograph that had been published on the front cover of his magazine, 'The Shelby American,' for our website, ShelbyFactoryPhotoCar.com. The photograph shows the last four numbers of the car's VIN: 00231.

"In my years of expertise, this is the only 60s - 70s classic muscle car ever photographed on a factory assembly line that you know is the car in the image," said Begley.

The #231 also has a race history. It was raced by the original selling dealership, Eger Motors, in McKeesport, Pa. The car was first sold to a retail buyer in 1971 with 400 racing miles on it.
